REVIEW WEEK!

This week, the students will receive a review list of spelling words.  There will not be any homework sheets, other than to study at home.

We will be discussing figurative language this week such as similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia, and others.  Students will create a book with definitions and examples of each concept.

In math we are continuing working with geometry.  Please remember to have students practice math facts as well.

We will be sending home a review sheet for our first quiz in science on Wednesday.  The test will be on Monday, January 26th.

Writing Words Test-  We will have our Writing Words Test on Monday, February 2nd.

The states and capitals test for the northeast will be toward the middle of the month in February.

January Events!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break!  It was great to be off, but excited to be back and hear all the adventures the students had over break!

Here is what is happening...
January
7th-  MAP testing
19th- No school
20th- No school
30th-  Writing words test

This week we will be focusing on inferencing and using proof from the text and our own background knowledge.  Students will read The Jones Family Express to work on this skill as well as using context clues.

We have started a new chapter in math working with geometry.  We have been studying what a line, ray, and segment are.  We will also look at angles and shapes during this unit.  Don't forget to continue to study math facts!

We have also started our light unit.  Students will be participating in many experiments to learn about light and how it travels.
