Bill Buczinsky

The kids thoroughly enjoyed poet Bill Buczinsky's presentation this morning.  His energetic presentation brought poetry to life for the kids.  When we returned to class we talked about what messages he wanted us to take away about poetry.  The kids decided that he wanted us to know that:

Poetry is....-different and exotic-more than just words on a page-in everyone-can be inspired by anything-rhythm-movement-an image-fun!
-not always meant to be serious

Field Museum Trip

Field trip   By; Samantha                                                         Our whole class went to the field museum. We saw exhibits and we saw how the Native Americans live. We saw how they make their clothes, and we saw dolls. They lived in a big house and 30 people could live in the house.A kid asked how the Native Americans  use the bathroom. They dug a hole and then then used the restroom. We also saw what they eat and they eat beans, corn and stuff like that.We saw their beds. The Native Americans live in different ways than we do.The tour guide was telling us that when one of the women wake up in the morning, they have to run down to the lake and get water to make food.We saw stuff that the women made like covers, bags, clothes, and other stuff.

Now we also saw  different exhibits. We saw animals.  We saw this big worm and we thought about James and the Giant Peach because of the worm in the giant peach.Me and my group went to go see sea mammals. We saw insects we didn't know.We heard that a T-rex - Sue's real head is separate from the body because it's too heavy.

Greek Mythology
2-2-16
In class we are doing some Reader's theater. Each person got to choose a type of Traditional Literature to do a play about. Our choices were fairytale, tall tale, or myth. The fairytale group is doing The Frog Prince. The tall tale group is doing Stormalong. The myth group is doing  Pandora's Box. Today we will perform our shows. We made all of our props and are so excited to show the class our shows.
2-3-16
We showed the plays today. The Reader's Theater went great! All of the groups shared their stories except for Pandora's box. I can't wait to see it!
2-4-16
Pandora's Box did great! We decided to have a trial to see who was guilty for Pandora opening the box. Stay tuned to see who is guilty!
